Besides qi gong exercises and tui shou (pushing hands) partner exercises especially 'routines' (also called 'sets') are characteristic for a style. A routine consists of diversified and often complex sets of figures with given sequences, similar to long katas of karate. After a routine without weapons was learned also routines using weapons (sword, stick) may be trained. epending on the personal favours and skills the exercises may be done in a calm or more dynamic manner. The training not only supports agility, coordination of movements and strengthening of the body, but alsodevelopment of inner strength and persistence. Therefore taiji quan is suitable for persons of any age.
